ARTIST'S STATEMENT
The events of September 11, 2001 changed our lives forever. In the days immediately following the attacks, we as a nation, found ourselves dealing with a wide range of emotions. Our initial feelings of shock and fear from the devastation soon transformed themselves into those of sadness and loss. There were moments when we needed to stay quiet with our thoughts. We were humbled as a nation as we had never been humbled before, but we were ever so grateful that our country had survived. We prayed that we would find the strength to recover from this horrific tragedy.
But we learned that we ARE strong. From our experience came a newfound American spirit. We proved that we would not succumb to the evil deeds of others. We are the UNITED States of America.
We kept this spirit strong in the days and weeks that followed September 11th. We extended a helping hand to our fellow man. We put aside petty differences and tempered our impatience about the trivial things in life. We showed our appreciation for our families and friends. We learned that love and kindness can conquer all.
Continue to extend your hand to help your fellow human beings. Do it now. Do it tomorrow. Do it always.
